Description
South Gate, located within Almondell Park in West Lothian, is an earlier 19th-century structure consisting of a segmental arch constructed with dressed voussoirs. The arch sits on hammer-dressed piers, and is flanked by quadrant die walls. The gateway originally marked the entrance to an avenue leading to Almondell House, which has since been demolished. The lodge associated with the gate has undergone considerable alterations. The statutory address is South Gate-way, Almondell Park.
