Description

The site contains two ranges of lime kilns, likely dating to the 18th or 19th century. The north range comprises one infilled kiln with a single vent arch, and another kiln with a vent arch and a semi-circular rear tunnel providing access to three further vents. The south range consists of three kilns. The eastern pair each have a single vent arch, with central and rear tunnels connecting to additional vents and a semi-circular rear tunnel associated with the third kiln. Further details and illustrations can be found in B.C. Skinner's Lime Industry of the Lothians, pages 32 and 47.
