Description

Dated 1864, the Dr. Cullen Burial Enclosure is an oblong structure within Kirknewton Burial Ground. It is built of snecked rubble. A prominent doorway features a segmental broken pediment and a bronze relief depicting Dr. Cullen. A memorial panel is set into the relief. Dr. Cullen of Ormiston (1710-90) was a physician, botanist, philosopher, and agricultural improver.
