Description

The gate lodges, situated at 19 and 21 Whitemoss Road, Kirknewton Village, and the associated gate, date from the 19th century and stand within the grounds of Kirknewton House, at the drive leading to the main house.

No. 19 is a two-storey tower constructed of snecked rubble. It features a corbelled parapet and an angle turret. An oriel window is present on the north side. A single-storey addition projects to the east. The building has gabled dormers, a corbie-stepped east gable with a ball finial, and a flat-roofed extension to the east. The window surrounds are chamfered.

No. 21 is a single-storey lodge built of stugged ashlar with a slated roof. It also has chamfered window surrounds and decorative strap hinges on the door. Dressed stone gate piers support iron gates.
