Description
This late 18th century building at 63 High Street, Linlithgow, is a three-storey, three-bay house set back from the street. It features a rendered and painted exterior with raised margins, lintel, and eaves courses.
On the north elevation, there is a deep-set door on the outer left, which has a fine fanlit eight-panelled door and fluted architrave. To the right of the door, there are two windows, and the first and second floors have regular fenestration.
Inside, the house has a central stair hall with a curving stair. The principal rooms on the ground and first floors include an Adam-style chimneypiece decorated with marine-themed motifs, and the first-floor room features a panelled dado.
At the rear, there is a long rig garden enclosed by rubble walls. The building has four-pane sash and case windows on the ground floor, with plate glass above. The roof is covered with grey slate and has ashlar coped skews and stacks at the gables.
In front of the house, there is a small garden along the High Street, which is enclosed by modern iron arrowhead railings installed in 1990.
