Description

Bridge No. 30, located near Broomhouse on the Union Canal, was built around 1820 under the direction of engineer Hugh Baird. The bridge features a segmental arch constructed of coursed stone. It has slab copings and numbers are incorporated into the keystones. The Union Canal itself is designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM No. 4170), having been scheduled on 15 December 2003.
