Description

This is a bridge, dated 1820 as marked on its keystones, and built as part of the Union Canal. The engineer was Hugh Baird. The bridge features a segmental arch constructed with coursed stone, and has slab copings. Numbers appear on the keystones. The Union Canal itself is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM No. 4170), having been scheduled on 15 December 2003. The bridge is located near Bell’s Mill at the statutory address of UNION CANAL BRIDGE 31, NEAR BELL'S MILL.
