Description

Hippolyte J. Blanc, begun 1898, completed 1906. 2-storey with breaking-eaves dormers, 10- by 8-bay shouldered-gabled restrained Scots Renaissance former hospital villa, situated within large rural hospital complex. Roughly coursed and snecked sandstone with ashlar margins. Base course. Round-arched dormer heads. Some bi-partite windows. S elevation with canted bays to ground. Single-storey section to E and later full-height extension to N.

S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: off-centre 2-bay gabled section with canted 4-light window to ground with blocking course. Advanced gabled bay to far left with 4-light window to ground. Moulded doorpiece to left with former entrance door. Single-storey extension to far right with further moulded doorpiece and entrance door.

Predominantly 12-pane glazing pattern to timber sash and case windows; some boarded. Red rosemary tiles with decorative red ridge tile. Wallhead and gable stacks. Raised skews.

INTERIOR: not seen (2011).
