Description
Kirkgate Walls in Linlithgow are constructed of cream sandstone rubble with ashlar coping. The west wall features a boarded gate located midway along Kirkgate, and there is a single cast-iron gate leading to the Palace lodge situated between the wall and the Palace gateway. The east wall is a low structure that includes a gateway to St Michael's church positioned between the Palace gateway and the wall. To the right of this wall, a series of plaques can be found, detailing the line of descent from Mary Queen of Scots to the present monarch.
