Bellville, North Main Street, Alexandria

Bellville is a mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay symmetrical double villa featuring Jacobean details. It is constructed from stugged, squared, and snecked red sandstone, with a base course and a moulded string course. The building has chamfered arrises and a shaped Jacobean pediment, along with hoodmoulds and an eaves cornice.

The west (main) elevation showcases symmetrical outer gables, with a projecting square window at the ground floor and a chamfered canted window at the first floor, topped with an ogee lead roof. The shaped gable includes corbelled stacks that are disguised as urn finials. Centrally located at the ground floor are round-headed doors with a roll-moulded surround, flanked by Venetian windows that have blind sidelights. At the first floor, there is a narrow tripartite window in the center. The rear features projecting stair towers, with the left tower having a round-arched window and the right tower being altered.

The villa has plate glass timber sash and case windows, with leaded etched glass on the upper panes of the first-floor windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and features lead flashings.

The boundary wall is a low stugged and squared rubble wall topped with ashlar coping.
