Description
Caldarvan House is a mid to later 19th century, two-storey villa with a gabled, rectangular plan. It is constructed of squared and snecked sandstone, featuring ashlar margins and dressings, along with gabled dormerheads.
On the southwest elevation, there is a broad gable that slightly advances to the outer left. To the right, a gabled shallow porch is set in a re-entrant angle, with a canted window to the outer right. The southeast elevation presents a long, near-symmetrical range with a door at the centre, a gable to the outer right, and bipartite windows, along with gabled dormerheads.
The windows are plate glass timber sash and case, and the roof is covered with grey slate, featuring lead flashings and multiple tall corniced ridge stacks.
