Lodge And Gatepiers, Lomond Castle Hotel, Loch Lomond

The lodge and gatepiers at Lomond Castle Hotel, built in 1865 by architects Campbell, Douglas and Stevenson, is a single-storey, L-plan gabled structure. It features stugged squared and snecked sandstone with ashlar margins and dressings, including a base course, quoins, margins, and moulded surrounds.

On the main elevation, there is a broad crowstepped gable to the outer left, which has a window at ground level and an arrowslit in the gablehead. To the right, a crowstepped porch is located in the re-entrant angle, featuring a round-arched door and a small round-arched window on the right return. There is also a large window in the outer right bay, though all windows are now blocked. The roof is covered with grey slate and has moulded ashlar ridging, along with a tall ashlar coped ridge stack.

The gatepiers were rebuilt around the 1950s and consist of square coped piers topped with lanterns. The original lower flanking piers have pyramidal caps. A coped plinth wall with cast-iron arrowhead railings completes the boundary.
