Description
The bridge over the River Earn, located east of St Fillans, is likely from the late 18th century. It is an excellent example of a period bridge, remaining unaltered and in good condition.
This two-span bridge features one principal segmental arch that crosses the main part of the river, along with a secondary minor arch to the north. It is entirely constructed of rubble and has a humped profile, with battered and splayed cutwaters positioned between the principal and minor arches. There is a strengthening buttress on the south end of the east side. The bridge has curved approaches with scrolled ends, and the rubble parapet walls are topped with semicircular copes. A lower parapet over the center is also clearly visible in the stonework.
