Sorisdale Cottage, North Church Street

Sorisdale Cottage, located on North Church Street, is a valued building within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Planning Authority for its minimal external alterations and its positive contribution to the streetscape. This single-storey cottage is recognized as one of the best surviving examples in Callander, likely dating from the late 18th century.

The cottage has a rectangular plan with three bays and a small outshot at the rear. The main southeast elevation features a centrally located door flanked by windows at the eaves. Both side gables (northeast and southwest) and the rear (northwest) elevation are blank. There is a rear door situated in the re-entrant angle of the outshot. Access to the interior was not obtained during the resurvey in 2004.

The building is constructed of random rubble 'pudding stone' with smeared pointing. It has a timber twin-leaf door and modern timber windows. The steeply pitched grey slate roof includes modern plastic ventilators and rooflights at the rear. A coped ashlar gable apex stack with a single can is located on the southwest side.
