Description

Loch Lomond And Trossachs National Park Planning Authority

Valued for being little externally altered and making a positive contribution to the surrounding streetscape. Sorisdale Cottage is recognised as one of the best surviving examples in Callander of a single storey building probably dating from the late 18th century.

The cottage is 3-bay, rectangular-plan with a small outshot to the rear. The principle (SE) elevation comprises a door to the centre with flanking windows at eaves. Both side gables are blank (NE, SW), as is the rear (NW) elevation. There is a rear door set in the re-entrant angle of the outshot. Admission was not obtained to the interior at the time of the resurvey (2004).

Materials

Random rubble 'pudding stone' with smeared pointing. Timber twin-leaf door with modern timber windows. Steeply pitched grey slate roof with modern plastic ventilators and modern rooflights to rear. Coped ashlar gable apex stack to SW with single can.
