Description
The Bridge of Muick, dated 1740 with a parapet added in 1878, is a single segmental span bridge constructed of roughly squared and coursed granite. The parapet is also of squared, coursed granite, topped with a rusticated, crenellated granite rubble coping. The bridge links Glen Muick to the south of the River Muick with the former Invermuick Parish Church and graveyard on the river’s north side. The bridge is a significant feature of the landscape where the River Muick meets the River Dee. While not built as a military bridge, it shares similarities with military bridges of the same period found in the area. The First Edition Ordnance Survey Map of 1866 depicts the bridge.
