Description
The burial ground at Logie, Kirkton, is a significant example of an ancient site, dating back to before the late 18th century when the parish was united with Coldstone to form the present Logie Coldstone parish. It originally served as the centre of the Logie parish prior to this amalgamation. The ground lies in flat farmland within the Cairngorms National Park. The site consists of a rectangular area of raised ground enclosed by a low rubble-walled enclosure, creating a higher ground level. The enclosure includes cast-iron gates dated 1846. Numerous gravestones are present, including several dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. A walled and gated enclosure, dated 1827, marks the Farquharson family plot. The antiquity of the site is hinted at by the presence of a standing stone, St Woloch’s stone, to the west of the enclosure wall; however, no carvings are visible on the stone.
