Description

Francis and William Mackison, circa 1860. Large asymmetrical

2-storey Italianate villa. Entrance front L-plan with

4-storey tower in re-entrant angle, single window to left

with dormer head, 1 window gable front on right, tower has

round-arched doorpiece with nook-shafts framed in elaborate

consoles with balustraded balcony above. Single arched and

keyblocked windows 1st stage, paired at 2nd stage, triplets

in square recesses, top stage: elaborate bargeboarded gables,

low pitched slated roofs. West front asymmetrical with ground

floor canted bay in gabled section on right central

round-arched oriel with spired roof, 2-window section on

left. Modern timber and smoked glass lean-to extension on

East front, lower 2-storey wing to right partly gable fronted

with arched porch. North front asymmetrical with large canted

bay corbelled to square and gabled on West.
