Description
38 and 40 Broomgate in Lanark is an early 19th-century building, which may contain earlier work inside. It is a two-storey former workhouse. The original gable end that faced the street was demolished in the later 19th century, and the building was set back. It was rebuilt with a crowstepped gable, which is rendered and lined. The front features two windows on each storey, along with a door and a small window above in the gable end. The north elevation has two wide bays, with one bay to the west being recessed. The south elevation includes three windows and a central door. The building has straight skews to the west, end, and axial stacks, topped with a slate roof.
