Description
6-10 Hope Street in Lanark is a building dating from around 1830. It has two storeys and features nine windows. The exterior is constructed from stugged ashlar with polished dressings. On the right side, there is one blocked pilastered door and a later shop front. A string course runs between the ground and first floors, along with an eaves course and a blocking course. The second bay from the north has a shallow projection that includes a modern door at ground level and an architraved window above. The building has a shaped parapet with a central panel above this bay, which indicates the entrance to the former Meal Market. The roof is slate and includes roof lights.
