Description

38-40 Wellgate in Lanark is an earlier 19th-century building that stands two storeys high with an attic and features three bays. The exterior is finished in painted stugged ashlar with raised margins. There is a shop front for No 40, while the entrance to No 38 is located on the right side. Above the ground floor, there is a lintel course, and the first floor has three windows. The building has an eaves course and two piended dormers, topped with a slate roof. A modern rear extension has been added.
