South Wing, Castleyett, 105 Castlegate, Lanark

This outbuilding, located at 105 Castlegate in Lanark, dates from around 1840. It is a two-storey, three-bay classical structure with a single-storey wing to the south and three storeys at the rear. The building features coursed stonework with stugged ashlar quoins and polished dressings. The central entrance has a pilastered doorpiece with coved reveals. There are two windows on the ground floor and three on the upper floor, all with moulded architraves and lying-pane glazing. The roof is piended and covered with slate, featuring a stack at the south end. On the north elevation, there are two blind windows on the first floor. The rear retains its original fenestration, including a tall central round-headed stair window with lying-pane glazing. A modern extension has been added to the south, adjacent to the single-storey wing. Additionally, there is a single-storey rubble outbuilding to the south.
