Description

Style of William Leiper. Late 19th century villa set in landscaped large garden. 2 storeys; detailing mostly Gothic; uncommonly elaborate sculptured stone porch/loggia on right flank, gabled and barge-boarded full-height projecting square bay alongside, conical-roofed turreted bay at left. Stugged ashlar with polished dressings; Mullioned/mullioned and transomed windows, cusped-headed lights at ground, some windows with small leaded panes. Also leaded glass panels by Daniel Cottier. Broad-eaved and steep-pitched slate roof with ridging tiles and finials; end stacks.

MAIN GATEWAY has curved quadrants, inner piers with pedimented caps and ball finials; decorative iron gates and railings.

COACH-HOUSE/STABLE BLOCK free-standing at rear; main range pyramid-roofed with dormer and single stack; flat-roofed 2-bay coach-house/motor house range may not be original; forecourt enclosed by plain, rendered wall; gatepiers. Slate-roofed small and square timber.

SUMMERHOUSE at south may also be 19th century.
