Description
47 and 49 High Street in Ayr is an early 19th-century, three-storey, three-bay shop featuring modern fittings on the ground floor. The building is constructed from painted coursed sandstone and includes a cill course at the first and second floors, an eaves course, a cornice, and a blocking course. The windows on the first and second floors have architraves.
On the entrance elevation, there is a two-leaf glazed aluminium door to the shop entrance on the outer right, a recessed two-leaf timber door on the outer left, and a shop window in between. The first and second floors have regular fenestration, with the centre bay being blind.
The first and second floors feature lying-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is made of grey slate, with a stone skew on the left, a brick stack on the left, and a harled stack on the right, along with polygonal and circular cans.
The interior was not seen in 1998.
