Description
49-53 Dalbalir Road is an early 20th-century, three-storey, seven-bay tenement that is part of a terrace, arranged in a 2-3-2 grouping. The building features polished red ashlar stonework, with brick on the sides. It has a curved moulded parapet and canted oriel windows in the outer bays on the first and second floors. The design includes deep moulded cills and cornices, as well as cill moulding on the strip-moulded wallhead stacks that flank the central three bays.
On the south elevation, there is a central entrance flanked by bipartite windows. There are entrances to the penultimate bays on the outer left and right sides, and bipartite windows in the outer bays. All square-headed entrances have timber doors with letterbox fanlights, while No 49 features a stained glass fanlight. The central bays have two bipartite windows on the first and second floors, and the penultimate bays on the outer sides have single windows on both floors. The outer bays are canted on the first and second floors.
The building predominantly has plate glass timber sash and case windows, although some modern glazing is present. The roof was not visible in 1998, but it features corniced wallhead and gablehead stacks with circular cans. The interior was not seen in 1998.
