Description

The Ice House at Blairquhan, likely built around 1825, features a barrel-vaulted design. It has a wide rectangular entrance that opens into a barrel-vaulted passageway, which leads to a rectangular inner gateway that opens into an ice chamber with a funnel-shaped floor. The structure is constructed from roughly coursed sandstone, accented with tooled dressings and a moulded architrave around the inner gateway. The roof is grass-covered and slopes down to the ground.
