Description
The Ice House at Gollachy is an earlier 19th-century rectangular structure made of rubble. It features long elevations on the east and west sides, with an off-centre entrance on the east. The exterior is finished with modern pinkish harl, and it has a piended turfed roof that includes a blocked chute. A ramp on the west side leads from the road to the ice house at the height of the roof.
Inside, steps descend from the doorway into an ante-room, which serves as a cool chamber. From this ante-room, a further doorway leads into the main chamber, which is a single vaulted ice house.
