Description

Gothick Cottage, located at Lunna House in Lunna Ness, is an earlier 19th-century building. It features a single-storey and attic principal block with two bays, showcasing a symmetrical Gothick style on the northwest gable. There is also a single-storey, two-bay wing attached to the southwest gable. The walls are constructed of harl-pointed rubble and drystone.

The northeast gable, which is the main facade, is symmetrical with a base course and a blind window at the ground level, along with a pointed-arched blind window above that rises into the gablehead. The gable is flanked by buttress-like walls that also have blind windows matching the central one at the ground level, and these walls end with square piers that have bracketed copes, similar to the skewputts on either side.

On the southeast elevation, there is a single window in the principal block, offset to the left of center. The wing is recessed on the left side, featuring a door in the right bay and a window in the left bay.

The southwest gable is blank, except for a small rubble buttress at the corner on the right side.

The northwest elevation includes a door in the left bay and a small infilled window in the right bay of the principal block, while the wing elevation has a rubble-infilled door that is recessed to the right.

The blind windows in the northeast gable have stone slabs with inscribed glazing bars. There are low two-flue gablehead stacks on the southwest gables, and the northeast gable features rubble skew-copes with bracketed ashlar skewputts.

Inside, there are fireplaces on each floor in the southwest gable of the principal block, with a timber surround still present in the attic. Additionally, there are fireplaces with raised hearths located in the east and west corners of the wing.
