Description

Blackadder Bridge, built in 1851, is a flat elliptical-arched bridge that runs east to west across Blackadder Water in Allanton. The bridge is constructed from yellow sandstone with channelled ashlar dressings, and features stugged squared and snecked sandstone at the quadrants. It has a rounded cornice with an ashlar parapet and coping. There is a pointed pier in the middle, topped with a pilaster, and pilasters flanking the bridge wall. A plaque made of ashlar displaying the name and date is located on the roadside of the northern parapet.
