Description
Heatherlie Church Manse, located on Yarrow Terrace in Selkirk, is a 2-storey building designed by Rowand Anderson in 1888 and completed in 1897, with later alterations. It features a 3-bay Scottish 17th century style and is harled with ashlar dressings.
On the northwest elevation, the bays are broadly spaced, with a window on each floor of each bay. The first-floor windows have gabled ashlar dormerheads, and the central first-floor window has an ashlar panelled apron with a finialled and pedimented dormerhead. There is a single-storey wing set back to the left.
The southwest elevation has a crowstepped gable, with a window in each floor of the left bay and a window at the ground level of the right bay.
On the southeast elevation, there is a panelled door to the left with a pedimented doorpiece, and a boarded door to the right. The centre features a full-height projection, with another projection to the right that is advanced further, both topped with crowstepped gables.
The building has 12-pane timber sash and case windows and a slate roof. There are wallhead stacks on the side elevations, which are harled with ashlar coping, and a ridge stack at the centre.
The interior was not seen in 1995. The boundary wall and gatepiers are made of whinstone rubble with rounded ashlar coping, and the gatepiers are square-plan ashlar.
