Description
Pittlesheugh is an 18th century farmhouse that has been reworked and significantly altered over time. It is a two-storey, six-bay building with a single-storey, single-bay addition on the outer right, along with single-storey, rectangular-plan ranges at the rear. The exterior features whitewashed harl with cream sandstone ashlar dressings, a painted base course, narrow strip quoins, sandstone margins, sandstone mullions, and flush cills.
The southeast (entrance) elevation is near-symmetrical, with a three-bay range on the left. This includes a part-glazed timber panelled door offset to the left of the centre bay and a single window offset to the right, with another window centered in the wallhead gable above. The outer bays have three-light bowed windows at the ground floor, while the first floor features bipartite windows. To the right is a further two-bay wing with single windows on both floors in each bay, and a part-glazed timber door in the single-storey addition on the outer right.
On the southwest (side) elevation, there is a single window at the ground floor offset to the right of centre, and modern garage doors in the single-storey range recessed to the outer left.
The northwest (rear) elevation has a single-storey lean-to addition offset to the left of centre, with irregular fenestration in the remaining bays. There is also a projecting single-storey range attached to the outer left.
The windows predominantly feature 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there are stone coped skews and iron rainwater goods. The ridge and apex stacks are coped and whitewashed, with a gablehead stack on the southeast and various circular cans.
The interior was not seen in 1998. Surrounding the property are part whitewashed rubble walls that enclose the garden.
