Description
1 Maxwellheugh Terrace in Kelso is a single-storey and attic double cottage built in 1863. It features a picturesque design, constructed from coursed red sandstone rubble with contrasting polished ashlar dressings. The entrance door, which is pointed, is located to the right and has a square hood-mould above it. Above the door, there is a gabled attic dormer, alongside a modern platform roofed dormer. The cottage has an advanced gabled bay at the center, which includes a piended canted bay at the ground level and a pointed bipartite window in the attic. To the left, there is a recessed wing that has a later porch added to the front. The roof is broad-eaved and slated, complete with barge-boards and finials, and there are grouped brick stacks.
