Description

Kelso Bridge, designed by John Rennie between 1800 and 1803, features five elliptical arches that support a level carriageway. The piers have rounded cut waters that hold a pair of engaged Doric columns above. These columns are topped with a frieze that creates shallow refuges for pedestrians. The bridge also has a block cornice with a blind balustrade. At the west end of the bridge, there are two cast iron lamp-standards that were originally from Rennie's London Bridge.
