Description

2-4 Kirk Wynd in Selkirk is a later 19th century terraced tenement with later additions and alterations. It stands two storeys high with an attic and features three bays, including a shop on the ground floor. The building is constructed of painted droved ashlar with polished ashlar at the ground level, while the first floor is made of painted squared and snecked whinstone, which has polished raised margins and droved ashlar tails. The rear is finished in painted whinstone rubble. A band course runs at the lintel height of the ground floor windows.

On the northeast elevation facing Kirk Wynd, there are regularly spaced windows in each bay of the first floor. A glazed door is located to the left of centre on the ground floor, flanked by four fixed-pane shop windows. There is a pedestrian pend entrance to the outer right.

The southwest elevation features a single-storey addition with stairs leading to a modern door at the centre of the first floor, flanked by windows.

The building has 12-pane timber sash and case windows on the northeast side. The roof is slate with droved ashlar coped mutual stacks. Each outer bay of the northeast elevation has a half-piended canted three-light dormer, and there are two-pane 19th century rooflights on the southwest side.

The interior was not seen in 1996.
