Description
East Lodge at Hangingshaw is a single-storey, three-bay cottage ornee lodge built in the mid 19th century and restored around 1987. The exterior is harled, featuring a plain door at the center, which is framed by a tripartite, gabled porch. This porch has a pointed arch opening, lattice work, decorative barge boards, and tree trunk columns. The flanking bays have canted windows topped with piended roofs covered in fishscale slates. There is a later addition at the rear of the building. The windows have small-pane glazing patterns, and wallhead stacks are present on the end elevations. The roof is made of grey slate with a piended design, and it includes simple finials on both the porch and the windows, as well as a small rooflight.
