Description

The ice house at Bowhill dates from the early 19th century. It features a vaulted tunnel that provides access to a domed underground compartment, with the dome itself covered by earth. The structure is made of brick, ashlar, and rubble. It has a broad doorway framed with ashlar quoins and a timber door. Inside, there is a short entrance passage that has a brick roof, leading to another ashlar doorway that opens into the ice chamber.
