Description
Thatched Cottage is a cottage ornee built in the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick in English bond and features a reed thatch roof. The building has a single axial stack with a pair of diamond-set brick shafts topped with dogtooth moulding. The cottage has a lobby entry plan and is a single storey plus attics, with a four-bay front. The entrance is off-centre and consists of a planked door, flanked by two two-light glazing bar sliding sashes on the left and a single two-light glazing bar sliding sash on the right, all with segmental heads. The door is sheltered by a steeply gabled wooden rustic porch. The roof includes two two-light sliding sash dormers with thatched gables and rustic wooden decorations. On the left gable, there is a canted glazing bar window with a hipped thatched roof.
