Description
49 West High Street in Lauder is a late 18th century, double-fronted terraced house that stands two stories tall with an attic. The exterior is harled with painted stone dressings and features a base course. The principal southwest elevation has architraved openings and vertical margins on either side. The symmetrical arrangement includes a central entrance with a panelled timber door topped by a three-pane rectangular fanlight, flanked by windows on each floor and one above.
On the northeast elevation, there are later polygonal piended dormers visible in the attic. The southeast elevation adjoins No 47 West High Street, while the northwest elevation adjoins No 51 West High Street. The principal elevation has 2-pane timber sash and case windows, and the house is topped with a grey slate roof that features shared harled ridge stacks with coping and a band course on either side, each with round cans.
The interior was not inspected in 1998.
