Description
The Scott-Douglas Mausoleum, designed by James Gillespie Graham around 1820-1825, is a Neo-classical temple mausoleum. It features a rectangular plan with four by six bay cells set on a raised basement, constructed from polished ashlar. The exterior showcases an unfluted Roman Doric pilaster order, an entablature adorned with triglyphs and guttae at the frieze, a mutuled cornice, and raking members. The front (east) pediment is decorated with stylised acroteria. The centre of the east front has an architraved door, which is now blocked, and the original elaborate door has been lost. There are also a pair of niches flanking the door and blind panels above. The west elevation features a semi-circular headed architraved window, also flanked by niches. The interior has not been seen.
