Description
7-9 Bridge Place is a two-storey, three-bay (four at ground floor) classical former bank building, designed by J and J Hall in 1924, and now used as offices. The front elevation features polished buff sandstone ashlar, while the rear is finished in cement render. The ground floor has channelled ashlar, and there is a band course for signage at the first floor level, along with an eaves band course, cornice, and blocking course. The design includes projecting aprons and keystones.
The front (southeast) elevation showcases a three-bay principal block with a central ground floor window and double doors on both the left and right sides. To the southwest, the elevation extends to a single-storey access to flats. The first floor is pilastered.
The windows are timber sash and case, with three panes of plate glass at the front and four panes at the rear. The roof is slate, pitched to the front, with wallhead stacks.
Inside, the original layout remains intact but has been subdivided on the ground floor. Some original decorative features are still present, including a dentilled cornice and scrolled corbels, along with glazed double inner doors.
