Kelso Mills, Mill Wynd, Kelso

Kelso Mills is an early 19th-century building featuring an irregular island block that encloses a courtyard. The south front consists of three bays and three storeys, with a central door framed by a pilastered doorcase. The second floor has low rectangular openings under the eaves, which are fitted with louvred ventilators. The exterior is harled with ashlar margins. The east range has six bays and is similarly detailed, with a slated roof that is piended to the south and gabled to the north, featuring straight skews. The north range is a two-storey, four-bay structure that was formerly two house blocks, with a two-window gable facing east and a slated roof. The west range is four storeys high with seven bays, serving as a granary, and is also harled with ashlar margins, topped with a piended slated roof.
