Description
Earlier to mid 19th century with later additions and alterations. Pair of single storey with attic, 3-bay cottages forming symmetrical, 6-bay block; lean-to additions at rear. Harl-pointed squared and tooled cream sandstone rubble to front; tooled sandstone dressings; harl-pointed rubble to rear and E elevations; dry-dashed W elevation; dry-dashed additions at rear. Tooled quoins; tooled long and short surrounds to openings; projecting, painted cills at ground; projecting cills in gabled, wallhead dormers.
S (ENTRANCE ELEVATION: each cottage comprising step to part-glazed boarded timber door centred at ground (plate glass fanlight to No 5; 3-pane fanlight to No 6); single windows flanking at ground; single windows in surmounting dormers.
E (SIDE) ELEVATION: blind, gabled block to left; lean-to addition slightly recessed to right.
N (REAR) ELEVATION: near full-width, lean-to addition centred in each cottage; single windows in bays recessed to left and right respectively.
W (SIDE) ELEVATION: blind, gabled block to right; lean-to addition slightly recessed to left.
8-pane, vertical glazing in timber sash and case windows at ground to front; 6-pane glazing in timber sash and case dormers; modern windows at rear; rooflights. Grey slate roof; stone ridging; slate-hung dormers. Stone-coped skews; bracketed skewputts; cast-iron rainwater goods. Corniced, part brick-built ridge and apex stacks; various circular cans.
INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
