Description
Todheugh Bridge is a three-arched structure built in the later part of the 19th century, spanning the Whiteadder Water. It is constructed from squared and snecked tooled cream sandstone rubble, with sandstone ashlar dressings. The bridge features large, elliptical-arched openings that are framed by raised ashlar voussoirs, and the abutments and soffits are lined with brick. Sandstone cutwaters are positioned on either side of the central opening. Continuous string courses run along the outer elevations beneath coped parapets. The bridge has full-height, rectangular-plan terminating piers that project from the outer elevations and are topped with pyramidal caps. At both ends, there are low, coped walls that are slightly splayed, and modern railings have been added.
