The Lees, Kelso Road, Coldstream

The Lees, located on Kelso Road in Coldstream, is a building dating from around 1770, with additions made around 1980. It features a two-storey semi-circular bow that has five bays and is constructed of ashlar stone.

The building is supported by engaged Ionic columns that rise through both storeys, holding up an entablature with a dentilled cornice and a blocking course. There is a band course above the ground floor. The ground floor has 15-pane sash windows, while the first floor has 9-pane sash windows, with the upper sash being larger. The outer bays contain blind windows.

Attached to the bow is a modern semi-circle made of painted rendered brick with ashlar dressings, creating a circular house. The porch features two Roman Doric columns with an entablature and blocking course taken from the former house. It has a lugged architrave surrounding a double-leaf panelled door. There is a cill band above the ground floor's 12-pane windows, with a band course over the ground floor. The first floor has 9-pane sashes, except for the window above the door, which has a 12-pane sash. The fiberglass entablature and other details match the original design.

The building is topped with a conical slated roof that has a chimney at its apex.
