Description
Clarendon House, located at 60 Middlebridge Street, is an 18th-century building that stands two storeys tall and is constructed of brick, with all headers above ground floor sill level. The building features a moulded and bracketed eaves cornice and a slate gabled roof. On the first floor, there are two sash windows, each three panes wide, framed with architrave. These windows flank a central segmental bow window that has three lights, with the central light being three panes wide and flanked by one-pane side lights, all topped with a cornice that wraps around the head of the bow. The ground floor also has two sash windows, three panes wide. The central entrance is a six-panel door, with the upper panels consisting of lead lights, set in a panelled reveal. This door is framed by a doorcase featuring panelled Doric pilasters, a moulded and fluted frieze, and a moulded and dentilled cornice that fits under the bow window. The roof at the back of the building is covered with old tiles. Clarendon House is part of a group with Nos 54 to 60.
