Description
Ladhope Tower is an early to mid 19th century stable block with a gable-ended, rectangular plan. It incorporates a much-reduced fragment of a 16th century tower house on the west side. The building is single storey, featuring a gableted loft door that breaks the eaves on the north elevation. To the right, there are two-leaf timber doors leading to a large round-arch opening, which is likely from the early 20th century and possibly uses stone from the original tower house. Above this opening is a blank rectangular panel.
Adjoining to the west is a remnant of the tower, consisting of two 15-foot walls made of roughly coursed and pinned rubble, with signs of first-floor corbelling on the inner faces. The south elevation has a large two-leaf timber door and an additional single door to the left. The roof is covered with grey slate, and cast-iron rainwater goods are present.
