Description
Riverside House, a former hand-loom mill, is a regular five-storey, six-bay rectangular building dating from the earlier to mid-19th century. It is now used as office space. The exterior features squared whin stone with droved sandstone dressings on the southeast side, while the northwest elevation is rendered and painted. The building is situated on the edge of Galashiels, overlooking the Gala Water, and is oriented northeast to southwest. There are two entrances on the northeast elevation and one on the southwest.
The windows are top-hung timber plate-glass, and there are plate-glass rooflights. The roof is slate.
Inside, the space has been modernised for office use, but the original structure, floors, and timber stair remain intact.
