Description

Dated 1868. 2-storey, 3-bay, rectangular-plan symmetrical corner sited traditional public house with T-plan roof, external rear stair, and single storey perpendicular piended-roofed ancillary range to rear. Corniced facia over large windows and central doorway; date stone at gable apex. Painted stugged ashlar; painted quoins; base course; smooth stop-chamfered margins.

4-pane timber sash and case windows; cast-iron rooflights; slate roofs; rectangular corniced end stack with clay cans; cast-iron downpipes.

INTERIOR: a fine later 19th century commercial bar interior survives dominated by central canted timber island bar with pilasters, carved half-fluted columns and dentilled frieze with balustrade, linked to intricate glazed timber dual entrance lobby. Decorative arches; cast iron columns with floral capitals; timber panelling to dado level; margined glazed doors.
