Description

Dated 1874. Gabled 2-storey 3-bay villa on magnificent N facing site. Whinstone with cream sandstone ashlar dressings, stugged quoins. Segmental-headed openings, stop-chamfered arrises; overhanging eaves with exposed rafters.

N ELEVATION: gables with filigreed bargeboards and trefoil detail to bracing. Diagonally boarded 2-leaf door at centre with gabled canopy; decorative carved timber brackets and finial. Broad gabled right bay with piend-roofed and corniced canted ashlar window at ground; window above; datestone 1874 in gablehead. Left bay with tripartite window at ground; bipartite 1st floor window breaking eaves with gabled dormerhead.

E ELEVATION: broad gable to right with windows displaced to left at ground and 1st floor; low single storey range to left obscured by timber sheds.

S ELEVATION: 3 gabled bays; advanced gabled stair (?) bay at centre. Modern timber conservatory with access from house at ground to left; 1st floor window breaking eaves with gabled dormerhead. Right bay with projecting gabled single storey range; oculi to W return; apex stack with cockerel weathervane.

W ELEVATION: blank gable with lean-to timber sun-lounge to right. Initialled panel in gablehead.

Timber sash and case and casement windows. Grey slates (fish-scale to porch and dormers); coped stone apex stacks with octagonal cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1994.
