Description
Kildare Lodge is a villa built around 1860, featuring a single storey and attic with a symmetrical three-bay design. The exterior is made of cream stugged and snecked sandstone, squared and coursed on the south elevation, with ashlar dressings. It has an eaves course and a corniced parapet, along with ashlar mullioned windows that have moulded reveals and quoin strips.
The south entrance elevation includes a narrow recessed bay at the center, which has a semi-circular arched doorpiece with pilasters and a keystone above a flight of five steps leading to fanlit two-leaf doors. Canted windows flank the entrance, topped with a cornice and timber parapet. There is a flat-roofed dormer in the center with a slate-hunt design, and canted windows on either side with piended roofs.
On the east side elevation, there is a single-storey lean-to conservatory attached, with a harled base and glazed upper section, featuring a door and double steps. A window is located off-center to the right at the first floor of the house gable.
The west side elevation has a window off-center to the left at the first floor. There is a single-storey garage and service wing adjoining at the northwest angle.
The villa predominantly has four-pane sash and case windows. The roof is covered in purple/grey slate, with ashlar coped skews and corniced ashlar stacks at the gables.
The interior has not been seen. The property is enclosed by a semi-circular coped rubble boundary wall, with ashlar rusticated piers and corniced piers topped with ball finials.
