Description
8 East High Street in Lauder is an early 19th century, two-storey, double-fronted semi-detached cottage. The exterior is rendered with incised lines that imitate ashlar, and it features ashlar dressings and coped gables. The openings have flush architraves.
The northeast elevation is symmetrically arranged, with a central entrance that has a replacement panelled timber door and a two-pane rectangular fanlight. There are flanking windows on each floor and an additional window above.
The southeast elevation is blank, while the northwest elevation adjoins No 6 East High Street. The southwest elevation was not inspected in 1998.
The cottage has four-pane timber sash and case windows and a grey slate roof. It features flanking ashlar gablehead stacks that are partly harled or rendered; the eastern stack is coped, and the western stack has a band course, with round cans.
The interior was not inspected in 1998.
